About the Author
Linda D. Labbo is an associate professor in the Department of Reading Education, The University of Georgia (309 Aderhold Hall, Athens, GA 30602-7125, USA; e-mail llabbo@coe.uga.edu). She has served as a primary investigator on National Reading Research Center studies designed to investigate young children's computer-related literacy development. She is past chair of the Microcomputers in Reading Special Interest Group of the International Reading Association and is editor of the Reviews section of this e-journal, published by IRA. She is also coeditor (with D. Reinking, M. McKenna, and R. Kieffer) of the Handbook of Literacy and Technology: Transformations in a Post-Typographic World (Erlbaum, 1998; click here for a review), which won an American Library Association award as an outstanding academic book of the year in 1998. Her research interests are in the areas of young children's computer-related and content area literacy development, and computer-related issues of diversity.
